The information was released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Currently, the United States, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea are the four largest wood importers, accounting for 87.1% of the total export revenue.
During the first months of this year, Vietnam’s wood shipments increased in almost all markets, except Chinese Taipei (down 0.1%) and the UK (down 0.7%).
Regarding imports, Vietnam saw US$250 million in wood imports in April, bringing the import revenue of wood and wood products to US$978.8 million in the first fourth months, up 33.6% over the same period last year.
Specifically, the import of wood and wood products from China and the US accounted for 31.8% and 11.9%, respectively.
