According to Deputy Director of the Lang Son Provincial Department of Industry and Trade Lieu Anh Minh, import and export activities at border gates in the province are basically normal. However, since May, due to the complicated situation of the COVID-19 epidemic in the country, the Chinese side has made moves to strengthen the management and control of import and export vehicles and goods.
There are currently 5 out of 12 border gates in the area inoperation, and the border gates are strictly complying with regulations on epidemic prevention and control under the direction of the Prime Minister, he added.
In order to remove difficulties and promote the customs clearance of goods through the area, the Management Board of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone and the Department of Industry and Trade, the Customs Department, the provincial Border Guard High Command have proactively grasped the developments to report to the Lang Son Provincial People's Committee in order to promptly devise flexible response solutions.
Among exported agricultural products, fresh lychee is listed as a priority for customs clearance procedures. According to a report from the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, only just over 40 tonnes of lychee were exported as of May 19, but by June 2, the figure had increased to more than 2,700 tonnes, with the total value of over US$8 million.
Chairman of the Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Ho Tien Thieu affirmed that in the coming time, functional forces are required to continue to strengthen coordination in supporting the export of agricultural products through the area, especially lychee and a number of agricultural products.
