Chile opens door for Vietnam’s pomelo

According to the Minister of Agriculture of Chile Antonio Walker, Chilean authorities have granted permission to Vietnam to ship pomelo to the Latin American market.

The information was revealed by Minister Walker during his reception on October 27 for Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Ngoc Son to discuss measures bolsteringbilateral relations in agriculture.

During the reception, Minister Walker spoke highly of Vietnam’s dynamic economic development while expressing his thanks to Vietnam for opening the door to Chile’s cherry.

The Chilean government wishes to expand cooperation with Vietnam in agriculture, not only in opening markets for farm produce but also in agricultural production and rural development, the Chilean official noted.

For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Ngoc Son affirmed that the Vietnamese government hopes to strengthen agricultural cooperation with Chile, an important partner of Vietnam in Latin America, especially in the application of science-technology in clean agriculture, climate change adaptation and the mitigation of natural disasters, as well as forest management and exploitation and further collaboration in multilateral mechanisms of which the two countries are signatories, including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
