On its front page, the People’s Daily respectfully covered the talks and meetings between General Secretary Trong and the senior leaders of the Chinese Party and State. Notably, in its January 13 issue, the daily devoted half of its front page to an article on the talks between General Secretary Trong and Chinese Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping. The article stressed the need for both sides to persistently pursue the “16-word motto” and the “four goods” spirit for long-term purposes, to be steadfast in pursuing goals and collaborate in action, aiming to accelerate the Vietnam-China ties in a positive orbit.
Xinhua News constantly published news, articles and photos detailing the talks between General Secretary Trong and Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, as well as his meetings with other senior leaders from the host country, notably including a commentary on the tea chat between the two General Secretaries after their talks in Beijing. The article noted that the Vietnamese leader was the first “distinguished guest” to be greeted by General Secretary Xi Jinping in the new year, which, it said, reflected the “comradely and brotherly friendship” between the two Parties and States.
China Radio International (CRI) quoted General Secretary Trong at a reception for a delegation of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, headed by its President Li Xiaolin, as saying that people-to-people diplomacy was of extreme significance to the development of relations between the two countries.
Ahead of the Vietnamese Party leader’s visit to China, China’s Global Times ran an editorial hailing the ties between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of China as a special pillar in the Vietnam-China relationship. It commented that the Vietnamese Party chief’s visit would create an impulse for the development of bilateral relations.
In addition, other local media agencies, including China Central Television (CCTV) and the People’s Liberation Army Daily, also published news, articles and photos covering the activities of the Vietnamese Party leader in China and speaking highly of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the high-level Vietnamese delegation’s visit to China.
