A National Conference on the preliminary review of ethnic work in the first six months of the year and implementing tasks for the last six months of 2022 was held on the morning of June 29 in Hanoi in both online and offline formats.

Addressing the event, Member of Party Central Committee Hau A Lenh, who is also Minister-Chairman of Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs, emphasised the issue of speeding up and focusing heavily on the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in 2021-2030.

As of the end of June 2022, the whole country has 3,434 communes belonging to ethnic minorities and mountainous areas in 52 provinces and cities directly under the Central Government.

In the first six months of 2022, the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs was assigned a total of 52 tasks by the Government and the Prime Minister.

In addition to agreeing with the draft report on the results of the first 6 months of the year of the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs, the delegates that attended Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Thanh Hoa, Bac Kan and Soc Trang, Ninh Thuan, Dak Nong also suggested that the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs along with relevant ministries, departments and branches should soon issue guiding documents; focus on speeding up the allocation and assignment of state budget capital plans to the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; and the implementation of e-Government as well as information technology programmes and projects at the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs.

Noting the full participation of more than 1,000 delegates and the positive comments of local leaders on the issues raised at the Conference, Minister-Chairman of Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs Hau A Lenh affirmed: the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs would urgently and coordinate with relevant units to remove and answer the proposals and opinions of delegates regarding the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas as well as digital conversion.

Currently, the completion of guiding documents is beingactively implemented by relevant units. As planned, the guiding circulars will be completed by July and sent to localities.

On the local side, Minister-Chairman of Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs Hau A Lenh emphasised that in the last 6 months of 2022, besides implementing regular tasks, localities need to focus highly and drastically on implementing the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
