The event was attended by former President Truong Tan Sang, former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An, former Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, former Vice President Truong My Hoa; Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Phan Dinh Trac; and Secretary of the PCC and Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai.
Addressing the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Deputy PM Le Minh Khai congratulated Lam Dong Province and Da Lat for their outstanding success, contributing to the overall achievements of the country.

He noted that over the past 130 years, from a pristine land, Da Lat has become the administrative, political, socio-economic and cultural centre of Lam Dong Province, a famous tourist and flower festival city in Vietnam, well known internationally. The city holds a vital position in defence and security in the Central Highlands region and strives to develop into a smart and heritage city.
He congratulated Da Lat on joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in Music, thereby contributing to positioning their brand and affirming recognition from domestic friends and the international community.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of Da Lat City People’s Committee, Dang Quang Tu, said the city is blessed with a fresh and cool climate all year round and beautiful natural landscapes, becoming a safe and attractive destination for domestic and international tourists. Over the past 130 years, since French scientist and doctor Alexandre Yersin set foot in Langbiang plateau, discovering this poetic land on June 21, 1893, Da Lat has preserved its depth of culture and history, with heritage values lasting forever.
He added that throughout history, the Party Committee, Government and people of Da Lat City have upheld their traditions and joined hands to innovate and develop an increasingly prosperous, beautiful and civilised place.

The Deputy PM expressed his hope that the Party Committee, authorities and people of Lam Dong Province and Da Lat City will join hands and more effectively exploit local potentials and strengths for the locality’s development.

At the ceremony, a special art programme was held to recall the 130-year history of Da Lat City on the Langbiang plateau, along with many unique art performances.

At the event, Ambassador Le Thi Hong Van, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to UNESCO and Acting Head of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam, Pham Thi Thanh Huong, presented a letter from the Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay, officially confirming Da Lat to join the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities in Music, on October 31, 2023.
