This year’s competition takes place against a backdrop of continued improvement in Viet Nam’s table tennis performance, especially with athletes focused on training in preparation for the upcoming 33rd SEA Games.

Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh won the prestigious women’s singles gold medal at the Southeast Asian Championships in late 2024, while most recently, Viet Nam’s junior table tennis team claimed one gold and five bronzes at the 2025 Southeast Asian Regional Youth Championships.

Most notably were the gold medal won by Nguyen Duc Viet and Nguyen Van Tuan Anh in the U15 category, along with the gold medal from female duo Van Linh and Van Chi in the U17 category at the 2025 US Open Table Tennis Championships, which featured nearly 1,500 athletes.

This year’s Nhan Dan National Table Tennis Championships attract nearly 200 athletes from 21 table tennis delegations, including strong centres such as Ha Noi, Hai Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, the Military, and Police T&T.

The tournament promises high quality and intense competition as it includes all national team members, along with young athletes who have just achieved high results at the regional junior championships, and the participation of many new table tennis delegations.

Athletes will compete in seven events: men’s team, women’s team, men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

The tournament provides a basis for the Sports and Physical Training Department and the Viet Nam Table Tennis Federation to select the top players for the national team to participate in the 33rd SEA Games and upcoming international competitions.

In addition to the seven medal sets totalling 28 prizes, Nhan Dan Newspaper will also present two awards for the most outstanding young male and female athletes, along with two further awards for localities that are actively developing table tennis competition movements and the host locality of this year’s events.

The competition will be broadcast live on VTV8 channel of Viet Nam Television and relayed on several local television channels.

Alongside traditional forms of media, the organisers will promote the tournaments across various social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok to attract young audiences.
