Deputy PM inspects expressway projects in Mekong Delta

A central delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha visited the Mekong Delta on November 20 to inspect the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway and the North-South Expressway.

In Soc Trang Province, the delegation inspected some parts of the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway in My Xuyen District and Tran De District.

At 58.3 kilometres, the Soc Trang section is the longest of the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway and has a total construction cost of 1,171.7 billion VND (46.1 million USD). To date, the section has been 14.5% completed.

Some parts of the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway with high traffic are scheduled to be completed in 2025, while the entire project is scheduled for completion in 2027.

On the same day, the delegate also inspected the progress of the Can Tho-Ca Mau section on the North-South Expressway and the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway in Hau Giang Province.

At the construction sites, Deputy PM Tran Hong Ha recognised the efforts of localities, investors and contractors in implementing the projects.

He also asked the relevant units to overcome difficulties and further accelerate construction to complete those projects on schedule.
