Embassy honours outstanding overseas Vietnamese youths in Czech Republic

The Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic held a ceremony on August 5 to grant certificates of merit to four young overseas Vietnamese people in recognition of their excellent achievements and support to the motherland in 2020.

The honourees included Nguyen Dong Nhat, a postdoctoral researcher at Czech Technical University in Prague; Hoangova Thao Sandra, who hosted a donation event to support flood victims in Vietnam’s central region in 2020; Duong Hong Nhung, the initiator of a fundraising event to construct a kindergarten and support the poor in Vietnam’s Nghe An Province; and medical student Jana Nguyenova, the first prize winner at the SOC innovation contest held by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in 2020.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Thai Xuan Dung said the granting of certificates of merit to individuals with outstanding achievements aims to encourage the Vietnamese young generation in the Czech Republic to promote the tradition of studiousness and solidarity while encouraging their contributions towards building the Vietnamese community in the host country and making further contributions to the motherland.

For their parts, Hoang Dinh Thang, President of the Union of Vietnamese People Associations in Europe, and Nguyen Duy Nhien, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic, highly appreciated the embassy’s encouragement and honouring of individuals with outstanding achievements, illustrating the embassy’s care and attention to the young Vietnamese generation in the host country.

As one of the awardees, researcher Nguyen Dong Nhat expressed his honour at receiving his certificate from the Vietnamese Embassy and pledged to make further contributions to the homeland.
