The Vietnamese diplomat said the order is Vietnam’s recognition of Beglov’s continuous efforts and contributions to maintaining and developing the relationship between Saint Petersburg and Vietnam and the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in general.

Saint Petersburg is one of Russia’s leading localities in cooperation with Vietnam and plays an important role in Vietnam-Russia bilateral cooperation with many delegation exchanges and diversified cooperation fields.

In early 2023, the two sides collaborated to inaugurate the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Saint Petersburg on the 100th anniversary of his arrival in the city.

The extensive cooperation between Vietnam and Saint Petersburg is attributed to the joint efforts of both countries’ central and local governments, including the important contributions of Saint Petersburg authorities and Governor Alexander Beglov.

For his part, Governor Beglov said he was honoured to receive the order and affirmed that the decoration symbolises the close-knit ties between Vietnam and Russia.

He added that cooperation with Vietnam is one of the main directions for Saint Petersburg’s external activities in the future.
