Garlic season in Ly Son

Arriving in Ly Son Island, Quang Ngai province in the last days of March, visitors can feel the lively atmosphere of the "kingdom" of garlic during the only harvest season of the year.

From early morning to night, adults and small children alike are all involved in the stages of extracting, sorting, pruning and harvesting garlic. Everywhere on the island, the cars carrying the famous specialty run from the fields to the houses, then from the houses to the market. Local people make full use of any gaps they can find to dry garlic. In the sun and the sea breeze, the crisp laughs of the harvest sound.
