Congratulating Tam, Vice Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, on the appointment, the top leader emphasised that it manifests the Party and State’s confidence in the ambassador's capacity and qualifications.
He highlighted the special and sincere relations between the two countries, which have played an important role in Vietnam’s security and development, and are a leading priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy, and described the ties as a precious asset of the two nations, which have been built, nurtured, and developed by generations of leaders and people of both.
He expressed his hope that Tam would promote the country’s diplomatic tradition, apply the diplomacy school of the Ho Chi Minh era, and contribute to unceasingly consolidating, and nurturing the Vietnam – Laos relations across various areas, bringing substantive benefits to the Parties, States, and people of the two countries.
The leader asked the newly-appointed ambassador to keep improving his political mettle, and uphold the spirit of solidarity, example setting and discipline at the embassy as well as other Vietnamese representative offices in Laos. He also asked Tam to keep close tabs on the situation at home and in the host nation, to propose policies and strategies, making contributions to developing the bilateral relationship amidst more complicated developments in the region and the world
For his part, Ambassador Tam pledged to make all-out efforts to boost the bilateral ties deeply and effectively in various sectors, with political relations being the key that shapes orientations for cooperation between the two nations.
The ambassador said he will work to bolster collaboration in defence – security and external affairs, while creating breakthroughs in economic cooperation, including enhancing connectivity among the Vietnamese, Lao, and Cambodian economies regarding institutions, infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, and tourism.
