Gia Lai Provincial Ethnic Minority Congress 2024 opens

The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai held the 4th Gia Lai Provincial Ethnic Minority Congress in 2024 on November 9.

With the theme “Gia Lai Province's ethnic groups unite, innovate, promote advantages, potentials, integrate and develop”, the 4th Gia Lai Provincial Ethnic Minority Congress is tasked with comprehensively assessing the socio-economic development situation in the province's ethnic minority areas in the recent past. The assessment focuses on the results of implementing 3 national target programs and the leadership, direction and administration of local Party committees and authorities, while at the same time, building directions, goals, tasks and solutions to implement the Resolution of the 4th Congress – 2024, as well as honouring and praising the great contributions of ethnic minorities in the cause of national construction and defence.

The political report presented at the Congress affirmed that in the past 5 years, the situation of ethnic minority areas in the province has had many positive changes. Party committees, authorities and organisations at all levels have directed the implementation and implementation of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws on ethnic affairs in the province.

The awareness of cadres, party members and people in ethnic minority areas has been gradually raised, contributing to promoting socio-economic development; the contingent of ethnic minority cadres and the political system in ethnic minority areas have been strengthened; the great national unity bloc has been promoted, maintaining stability in political security, social order and safety; further consolidating the people's trust in the general leadership and management of all levels in the locality.

In his speech directing the Congress, Do Van Chien, Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, acknowledged and congratulated positive results that the Party Committee, authorities and people of all ethnic groups in Gia Lai Province have achieved in the past.

He emphasised that the Party and State have always paid special attention to building the great national unity bloc, identifying the great national unity as an important factor, of key significance to the country's development. The Party Congress resolutions always identify: Unity of ethnic groups has a strategic position in the revolutionary cause of the country. Building the great national unity bloc is a more urgent requirement than ever, one of the key solutions to bring the country into a new era.
