The 6.7-kilometre section will help complete the entire Hanoi-Hoa Binh Expressway, part of the Hanoi-Moc Chau-Son La Expressway, under the national expressway plan.

The project is expected to meet the increased travel demand between the city centre and its western areas and improve the connection between the capital city and northwestern provinces.

The expressway runs from the intersection between Thang Long Boulevard and National Highway 21 to the intersection between the Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh Expressway and the road leading to the Culture Village.

The road has a width of 120-180 metres and costs 5,249 billion VND (215.25 million USD), partly funded by the central budget.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Hanoi Vice Chairman Duong Duc Tuan asked the relevant sides to work together to ensure the project is implemented in line with schedule and quality standards.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
