The programme aims to assess the current emission status of old motorbikes and implement solutions to improve air quality and manage traffic in a more effective manner.
The programme consists of four activities: emission measurement, pilot acceptance of old motorbikes that people throw away while supporting them to convert to new motorbikes, and surveying people's opinions on the impact of the policy on motorcycle emission control.
Specifically, from November 12-30, 2021, when participating in the programme, people will be able to check motorcycle emissions for free when they bring motorbikes from five brands - Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Piaggio, and SY, to eight inspection points in Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Dong Da, Cau Giay, Thanh Xuan and Ha Dong districts.
For motorbikes registered before 2017, vehicle owners are given lubricant, and in a case where the vehicle does not meet emission standards, they will be supported with part of the maximum maintenance cost not exceeding VND200,000 per vehicle to repair parts affecting theiremissions.
For motorbikes registered for the first time before 2002, vehicle owners wishing to convert to new motorbikes will be advised and guided, if they meet the conditions of the programme, they will receive support up to VND4 million, depending on the promotion policy of each motorbike company and direct discounts on the price of new motorbikes.
