The Hanoi leader made the remark at a reception for the out-going UK Ambassador to Vietnam Giles Lever, in Hanoi, on May 23.

The UK Ambassador spoke highly of the positive role of the Hanoi authorities in promoting the relations between Hanoi and localities in the UK, as well as between Vietnam and the UK in general.

He noted that the UK Embassy in Vietnam will hold a series of exchanges and activities by the year's end, in order to boost the mutual understanding between the two countries and mark the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic ties (September 11, 1973-2018).

Giles Lever expressed his hope that Hanoi would support and coordinate with the UK Embassy to organise the UK Day at the walking streets around the Hoan Kiem Lake in the second half of this year.

In addition, he expressed his wish that Hanoi would create the necessary conditions for finance and credit firms from the UK to invest in the city in the near future.

The Hanoi leader affirmed that the city will cooperate with the UK Embassy to hold activities to mark the 45th anniversary of the diplomatic ties, particularly the UK Day in Vietnam, in addition to creating optimal conditions for the UK firms to do business in Vietnam.

The two sides also discussed their education cooperation and the possibility of the organisation of Formula 1 racing in Vietnam under the support of the UK Embassy.
