Imbued with Ho Chi Minh Thought, building revolutionary moral standards in the new period

He devoted his whole life to national independence, freedom and happiness of the people, for peace, friendship among nations and social progress all over the world.

President Ho Chi Minh left us an extremely great and precious heritage, including his thought, morality and shining example of revolutionary moral practice.

As the founder and trainer of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh paid special attention to the work of building a clean and strong Party, worthy of the leadership role, governing responsibility, and fulfilling the mission of the working class and the nation. That role and mission are established and developed based on wisdom, solid thought, clear ethics and tight organisation.

President Ho Chi Minh is a shining symbol of revolutionary morality.

He attached great importance to the education and training of revolutionary morality: “Our Party is a ruling party. Each party member and cadre must be truly imbued with revolutionary morality, and practice thrift and integrity. We must keep our Party pure, worthy of being a leader and a faithful servant of the people.”

Throughout his life, he set an example of practising thrift, integrity, righteousness, and impartiality, from small things to big things, words always go hand in hand with deeds, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland, and serving the people. President Ho Chi Minh is a shining symbol of revolutionary morality. His ideology, morality and style are invaluable spiritual assets of the nation and the pride of generations of Vietnamese people.

Following his instructions, studying the extremely pure and noble moral example of Ho Chi Minh, during the process of leading the Vietnamese revolution, our Party has constantly strengthened and enhanced its leadership role, strength and prestige, with bravery, wisdom, self-sacrifice, tireless striving of the contingent of cadres and party members through many generations.

Under the leadership of the Party, our people won one victory after another, setting up miracles in the 20th century, ushering in the most brilliant and glorious era in the nation's history - Ho Chi Minh Era, conducting the renewal work and obtaining many important and historical achievements, affirming the country’s international position and prestige.

The cause of national construction and development and national defence in the current period poses new tasks that require cadres and party members to continue upholding revolutionary morality. The four risks pointed out by the Party still exist, are intertwined, and even have some more complicated developments.

The work of building the Party on ethics has made positive changes; many Party committees, organisations, localities, agencies and units have separate regulations on ethical standards associated with specific tasks, but a part of cadres and party members have not been pioneers and exemplary.

There is a state of degradation in political ideology, morality, lifestyle, expression of “self-evolution”, and “self-transformation” internally, corruption and negativity in several areas remain unresolved and serious. Those are challenges to the survival of the Party and the regime. This situation posed an urgent requirement to have a unified revolutionary moral standard system, suitable to new conditions and requirements to build a contingent of qualified, reputable and equal cadres and party members.

The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress stated that researching, supplementing and perfecting revolutionary ethical standards following the new conditions and fine cultural traditions of the nation, aims to serve as a basis for cadres, Party members voluntarily self-train and self-regulate their behaviour in daily work.

Revolutionary ethical standards in the current period must be based on the foundation of Marxist-Leninist theory, Ho Chi Minh thought, morality, and style with the core standards: loyalty to the Party, filial piety to the people; human, righteous, intellectual, brave; thrift and integrity; solidarity and responsibility; democracy, discipline; pioneer, exemplary; study, practice, and life-long striving, and constantly add new contents associated with the Party's viewpoints and policies on standards of cadres and party members, with the requirements of the country and the times.

These standards have a dialectical relationship, linked into a unified whole, creating a system of revolutionary moral standards representing the status of cadres and party members.

Today, on the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, a national symposium on building revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and party members in the new period is a meaningful and practical activity, paying tribute to and remembering the great merits of the great President Ho Chi Minh.

The enthusiastic opinions at the symposium are valuable and responsible contributions to building and perfecting the revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and party members in the new period, contributing to building the Party and political system in the future; especially building a contingent of cadres and party members with solid political ideas, moral qualities, pure lifestyle, thinking, aspiration for innovation, competence and prestige on par with their duties, true pioneering and exemplary.

Strictly practising revolutionary ethical standards in association with studying and adherence to Ho Chi Minh thought, morality and style help each cadre and party member to constantly improve themselves, contributing to enhancing the prestige of the Party organization, strengthening the people’s confidence in the Party’s leadership, promoting solidarity and strive to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, comprehensively promoting the renewal cause for sustainable socio-economic development, and building a more prosperous and happy country.
