International student science forum opens in Ho Chi Minh City

The Ho Chi Minh City Vietnamese Students’ Association and Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City officially opened the second International Student Science Forum (ISSF) 2017 under the theme ‘Industry 4.0 and building the smart city’ on June 21.

The International Student Science Forum 2016 (ISSF 2016) features the participation of 108 undergraduate students from universities in Vietnam and ten other cointries. The participants discussed and shared research; applications and benefits of the 4.0 industrial revolution for world development, as well as ideas; software; and innovative solutions to build smart cities.

Meanwhile, smart urban services and the role of smart urban dwellers are also main topics to be featured at the forum, in which international student delegates participate in research, suggest solutions on developing priority services in building smart city’s, focusing on e-government services, smart transportation, smart health, smart education, social security, solutions on raising awareness, culture in smart cities and building evaluation criteria for people living in smart cities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Doctor Nguyen Duc Nghia, Deputy Director of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, said that in the context of Vietnam's deepening international integration, Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam’s socio-economic centre - has made continuous efforts in innovation for sustainable development and successful international integration. Therefore, the International Student Science Forum is held to create opportunities for Vietnamese students and students from all over the world to exchange and conduct research.

Under the framework of the event, the students will also visit Saigon Hi-Tech Park and exchange with students of universities in the Ho Chi Minh City.

The event is expected to run until June 24.
