The five-day festival witnessed the participation of more than 2,000 athletes from 15 teams from 11 districts in the province and 4 teams from the provincial police force, border guard high command, military high command, and Education and Training Department.
The athletes will compete for 108 sets of medals in 15 sports.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Duong Xuan Huyen emphasised that in addition to fostering socio-economic development, the provincial authorities have paid due attention to developing physical training and sports in recent years, with many policies having been promulgated to upgrade sports facilities and promote sports movement in the locality.
The provincial sports festival provided an opportunity for participating athletes to exchange and hone experiences and at the same time select excellent athletes to vie for the 9th National Sports Games 2022, which is scheduled in Quang Ninh province this November.
