Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim pays official visit to Vietnam

Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Anwar Ibrahim and his spouse will arrive in Hanoi, on July 20 to begin his official visit to Vietnam, at the invitation of PM Pham Minh Chinh.

He is accompanied by Malaysian Foreign Minister Zambry Abdul Kadir; Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz; and leaders from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Department of Islamic Development, the Department of Veterinary Services, etc.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was born on August 10, 1947, in Penang State, Malaysia. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. Between 1982 and 1983, he was a Deputy Minister, the Prime Minister's Office. From 1983 to 1998, he respectively held the positions of Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Minister, Education Minister and Minister of Finance. He became Deputy Prime Minister between 1993 and 1998. Anwar Ibrahim was a member of parliament in Permatang Pauh in Penang State during the 1982-1998 and 2008-2015 periods.

He served as leader of the Opposition during the 2008-2015 and 2020-2022 periods. He returned to parliament in Port Dickson of Negeri Sembilan State from 2018 to 2022 and Tambun of Perak State from 2022 to the present. He is the leader of the Alliance of Hope since 2020 until now and the leader of the People’s Justice Party since 2018. From November 24, 2022, until now, Anwar Ibrahim holds the position of Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Malaysia.
