This is a strong motivation to exploit the potentials and strengths of farmers and rural areas, and at the same time, promote the will of self-reliance, innovation, creativity and overcoming difficulties of farmers in enriching their families, homeland and country.
According to statistics from the Vietnam Farmers' Union Central Committee, at the end of 2021, there were 3.6 million farming households that had achieved the title of good production and business at all levels, accounting for more than 51% of the total number of households registered to participate in the movement. In the period from 2017-2022, the average number of farmer households registered for the title increased by more than 4% each year.
Since its inception, the movement has received the strong participation of the whole political system, the positive response of farmers, contributing to affirming and enhancing the position and role of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, as well as the peasantry, in the field of agriculture and rural areas.
With its pervasive power in all fields of agricultural production, forestry, fishery, salt production, handicrafts, and services, the movement quickly became a focal point in rural socio-economic life.
In times of difficulties for the country due to natural disasters, epidemics, affected by the recession of the world economy, the movement is an important source of encouragement for farmers to promote the tradition of industriousness, creativity, stabilise national food security, promote export of agricultural products, restructure the agricultural economy, promote hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and maintain political stability in rural areas.
However, the results of movement development among regions and localities in the period from 2017-2022 are still uneven.
The construction and organisation of replicating the model of good farmers in production and business is still confused and lacks resources, leading to the situation that many farmers are good at producing and doing business but are not supported in a timely manner, unable to scale up, and forced to continue producing in an individual and spontaneous manner.
The Vietnam Farmers' Union needs to focus on propagating and transforming the awareness of officials, members and farmers about thinking from agricultural production to developing the agricultural economy in the direction of modernity, with concentrated and large-scale commodity cultivation, ensuring food safety on the basis of advanced science and technology application.
There is still a part of farmers who do not have the spirit to overcome difficulties, have not actively exploited the potential and strengths of the local agriculture to rise to get rich legitimately.
Forecasts on the situation of the COVID-19 epidemic with new variations, climate change issues, natural disasters, the process of global digital transformation, new-generation free trade agreements, the trend of green and sustainable economic development, and the accumulation of land is increasing day by day and hour by hour, posing the requirement to continue innovating to create many breakthroughs while improving the quality and efficiency of the “Good farmers in production and business” emulation movement for the Vietnam Farmers' Union at all levels in the coming time.
Therefore, the Vietnam Farmers' Union needs to focus on propagating and transforming the awareness of officials, members and farmers about thinking from agricultural production to developing the agricultural economy in the direction of modernity, with concentrated and large-scale commodity cultivation, ensuring food safety on the basis of advanced science and technology application.
Improving labour productivity, product quality, increasing competitiveness should be taken as a measure and throughout the content in directing, propagating, mobilising and supporting farmers to promote the movement, making the movement the focus of the new-style rural building programme and the plan to restructure the agricultural sector.
Strongly developing agriculture, farmers and rural areas is the task of both the political system and the whole society. It is necessary to arouse the spirit of patriotism, self-reliance, self-reliance and self-reliance of farmers.
Party committees and authorities at all levels should pay close attention to and drastically direct solutions to promote agriculture and rural development, renovate the rural appearance, and improve the material and spiritual life of farmers. The role and position of the Vietnam Farmers' Union will be increasingly firmly consolidated, serving as a fulcrum for members to emulate good production and business.
