This is President Thein Sein’s first visit to Vietnam since he took office in March 2011.
He is accompanied by Myanmar’s Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Soe Win; Minister of Home Affairs Lieutenant General Ko Ko; Minister of Foreign Affairs Wunna Maung Lwin; and Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Myint Hlaing; Minister of Construction Khin Maung Myint; Minister of Environmental Protection and Forestry Win Tun; Minister of Commerce Win Myint and several other high-level officials.
Thein Sein was born on April 21, 1945 and served as Myanmar’s Prime Minister from 2007 until 2011, when he was elected President.
