Nhan Dan/VNA - Three Vietnamese scientists received the UNESCO-L’Oreal National Fellowship for Women in Science on October 25 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The recipients, all Ph.D. holders, were Tran Ha Lien Phuong from the Vietnam National University in HCM City, Vu Thi Hanh Thu from the HCM City University of Natural Sciences and Tran Thi Thu Thuy from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

The fellowships, worth VND200 million each, are given to assist researchers in their continuing scientific projects, contributing to the development of scientific research in Vietnam.

Phuong and Thuy research cancer treatment, while Thu focuses on the application of TiO2 nanoparticles and ZnO in producing antibacterial films.

The awards were granted by the For Women in Science Programme, launched by the L’Oreal Group and UNESCO in 1998. So far, it has supported more than 1,700 female scientists in 108 countries.
