National Secretary of the French Communist Party impressed by Vietnam’s achievements

National Secretary of the French Communist Party Fabien Roussel said he was impressed by Vietnam’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and its recent socio-economic development achievements during a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang on July 12.

Expressing his delight at the positive developments in relations between the two countries and two parties, reflected through the meetings between the two sides’ leaders amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, National Secretary Fabien Roussel affirmed that his party’s members always exert efforts to strengthen the bilateral multifaceted cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang emphasised that Vietnam continues to prioritise enhancing its relations with France, especially its traditional friendship with the French Communist Party, of which Vietnam’s President Ho Chi Minh was one of the founding members.

He also briefed the host on the outcomes of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) as well as the country’s socio-economic development orientations and foreign policy in the coming time.

The Ambassador also thanked leaders and members of the French Communist Party for supporting the CPV and Vietnamese people during the past struggle for national independence and the current cause of nation construction and safeguarding.

The two sides agreed to step up bilateral relations, with the focus on organising joint activities, intensifying delegation exchange and cooperation between Vietnam’s Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper and France’s l’Humanité (Humanity) Newspaper.
