His re-election took place at the association’s 2nd national congress on December 18, which brought together more than 100 members from across the country and elected a 33-member executive board.

President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Phan Anh Son expressed his belief that under the leadership of the board, the association will obtain greater achievements in its work for stronger Vietnam-Armenia ties.

According to a report presented at the event, given the positive development of the countries’ relations, the association has made efforts to improve its apparatus and operations and contribute to the bilateral friendship and cooperation. In a decade since its establishment in 2014, it saw its activities spanning such key areas as delegation exchanges for peace, solidarity and friendship purposes, connectivity in economy-trade and culture-education-science sectors, external relations communication, organisational building, and commendation work.

For the next term, it sets goals to further shake up performance for practical and specific outcomes in people-to-people diplomacy, and to launch communication campaigns introducing the Party and State’s domestic and foreign policies, Vietnam’s development progress, and the two nations’ land, people, culture, and history.

Highlighting the association’s significant role in bridging the sides, Armenian Ambassador to Vietnam Suren Baghdasaryan said his country promises Vietnamese students the most favourable conditions possible for their study in Armenia. The key point is to foster mutual understanding, respect, support and cooperation between the young people of the two nations, he stressed.
