Nhan Dan newspaper reporter honoured with Laos’ friendship medal

Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Bosengkham Vongdara, authorised by the Lao Prime Minister, presented the Friendship Medal to outgoing head of Nhan Dan newspaper’s Representative Office in Laos Nguyen Toan Thang on July 15.

Vongdara spoke highly of Thang’s significant contributions to advertising the beautiful country of Laos to Vietnamese people as well as enhancing the traditional friendly relations, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between Vietnam and Lao as a whole and the friendly relations between Nhan Dan newspaper and Paxaxon newspaper in particular.

The Lao minister said he hoped that Thang would continue applying his abundant experience to his journalism activities, in order to produce articles about the Vietnam-Laos ties, helping the two countries’ people, especially the youths, learn more about the special relationship between the two nations.

Thang expressed his honour to receive the award from the Lao government, while thanking the Lao Party and State for having created favourable conditions for him to fulfill his assigned tasks during his term.

He asked the Lao side to continue supporting Nhan Dan newspaper’s representative office in the future.

As head of the office from 2011 to 2016, Thang successfully completed all assigned tasks, constantly boosting communication on Laos’ significant events and its achievements in the causes of national construction and development and promoting his role as a bridge between Nhan Dan newspaper and Paxaxon newspaper.
