The heat is caused by a low-pressure trough combined with foehn winds from the southwest, according to the national weather agency.

The humidity is averaging at 45-60% and the total time per day with temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius is between 10 and 18 hours.

In Hanoi, the maximum temperatures will also reach 36-38 degrees Celsius on August 6, with some locations reaching over 38 degrees Celsius.

It is forecast that the heat in the Northern region is likely to last until August 9. The hot weather will begin to calm down from August 10.

The hot weather is forecast to last for days to come in the central region.

Warnings of explosions and fires due to high electricity demand in residential areas as well as of forest fires in the central region have been issued.
