The event was attended by Hanoi Party Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai.

In his speech at the ceremony, Son Tay Town Party Secretary Tran Anh Tuan recalled the history of Son Tay as a sacred land — the birthplace of two Vietnamese kings and many notable figures in Vietnamese history.

The name Son Tay first appeared as an administrative unit 1469 and Son Tay Town was officially established in 1924.

To date, Son Tay Town has recorded many successes in all fields. In 2020, the town was recognised as meeting the standards of a new rural area, while its economy has seen decent growth in recent years.

Speaking at the event, Hanoi Chairman Tran Sy Thanh praised the town authorities and people for their achievements.

He asked Son Tay to tap into its strengths and mobilise resources for socio-economic development such that the town may become the capital city’s western growth pole.
