The 17th NAPROCK International Programming Contest, themed “ICT for a Green Future,” officially took place in Ha Noi over two days, March 8 and 9.
This year’s contest took place in Viet Nam for the first time. The event is held annually by the NAPROCK Association (Japan) to create a platform for exchange, research, and technological innovation among students in the field of information technology, while also promoting international cooperation and connections within the young technology community.
This year’s contest brought together 114 students from 36 teams representing four countries: Viet Nam (15 teams), Japan (12 teams), Thailand (3 teams), and Mongolia (6 teams). The participating teams developed ideas, created solutions, and competed in a dynamic academic environment, helping them practise important skills such as work organisation, time management, personal autonomy, and collective responsibility under high-intensity working conditions.
NAPROCK PROCON consists of two main categories: programming competition and theme-based creative software development. The programming competition focuses on building algorithms to solve specific problems, while the theme-based creative software category encourages teams to flexibly apply advanced information-processing technologies to address real-life challenges.
Japan’s Ambassador to Viet Nam Ito Naoki praised the significance of the contest in the context of Viet Nam’s strong development, particularly in information technology, digital transformation, and the development of high-quality human resources.
He expressed confidence that connecting young Vietnamese talents with Japan’s experience and technology would continue to expand opportunities for cooperation and bring practical benefits to both countries.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Professor Dr Chu Duc Trinh, Rector of the University of Engineering and Technology under Viet Nam National University, Ha Noi, said the first-ever organisation of the NAPROCK contest in Viet Nam marks a memorable milestone for this international programming event. The participating teams presented many innovative ideas and solutions, clearly reflecting the spirit of the theme “ICT for a Green Future.”
Meanwhile, Professor Kuwabara Hirofumi, President of the NAPROCK Association, expressed his impression of the quality of projects submitted to the contest. He noted that many products demonstrated a high level of creativity, strong technical skills, and serious investment by the teams.
The NAPROCK Association President expressed hope that the contest would become an important milestone for the participants, inspiring them to continue improving their programming skills as well as to use their capabilities to contribute to the development of society in the future.
During the two days of competition, teams presented a variety of innovative software solutions aimed at applying information technology to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development.
