Son Tay Tourism Year 2024 kicks off

Son Tay Town, in the capital city of Hanoi, has organised a ceremony to welcome New Year 2024 and launch the Son Tay Tourism Year 2024.

Son Tay boasts rich and diverse tangible and intangible cultural heritages, an encouraging source for tourism development.

Currently, the two tourist sites recognised by the Hanoi People’s Committee are the ancient village of Duong Lam and Long Ho Village (Kim Son Commune).

This year, Son Tay Town will focus on upgrading its infrastructure, creating thematic streets to attract more tourists in order to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector.

It will give priority to promoting Duong Lam and Long Ho Village tourist sites, taking their advantages of historical and cultural heritage, trade villages, and landscapes. In addition, the town will expand the Son Tay pedestrian street and open a typical food street.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ha Minh Hai emphasised that the city’s hope that Son Tay tourism will reap more achievements in the coming time, thus making an important contribution to Hanoi’s socio-economic development, the improvement of the local people’s living standards, and the building of Hanoi into a global city with harmonious development, elegance, peace, and prosperity.

At the event, the town honoured 19 individuals with outstanding achievements in cultural, arts, economic, tourism development in 2023.

Fifty gifts were also presented to local poor and disadvantaged households ahead of the Lunar New Year.
