This information was shared by Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu, Director of the Viet Nam National Drama Theatre, at a meeting with the press and guests at the beginning of Spring 2026, held on March 4 in Ha Noi.
According to Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu, thoroughly grasping the spirit of Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Central Committee on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people in the new period, the Viet Nam National Drama Theatre clearly identifies the role and responsibility of a leading national art institution in preserving and promoting the values of spoken drama, while proactively innovating to create momentum for breakthroughs.
In 2026, the Viet Nam National Drama Theatre will continue to pursue the artistic orientation already established: focusing on staging classic works of Viet Nam and the world; as well as political and serious dramas with depth of thought and high aesthetic value.
In 2026, the theatre aims to organize around 100 performances. In addition to meeting the artistic enjoyment needs of audiences in Ha Noi, the theatre will also carry out political tasks by serving audiences in remote and disadvantaged areas; organizing nationwide touring performances; strengthening international cultural exchanges and performing for overseas Vietnamese communities, thereby contributing to promoting the image of Vietnamese culture; actively participating in professional theatre festivals and competitions during the year; and developing long-term performance projects aimed at sustainable development.
In addition, one of the theatre’s important goals is to maintain regular weekend performances at the stage at No. 1 Trang Tien (Ha Noi), contributing to building the habit of periodic spoken drama appreciation among audiences in the Capital and gradually restoring the traditional position of the dramatic stage.
At the meeting, People’s Artist Xuan Bac, Director of the Performing Arts Department, emphasized that Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on developing Vietnamese culture is opening great opportunities for art units to make breakthroughs. The Director acknowledged the efforts of the collective of the Viet Nam National Drama Theatre over the past year and suggested that the theatre should seize opportunities and mobilize resources to continue innovating on the basis of promoting its identity, affirming its pioneering position and contributing to the overall development of the national theatre stage.
