The special art programme, scripted by Le Trinh and Ly Nguyen Anh, and directed by Meritorious Artist Trinh Mai Nguyen, includes two short plays titled ‘Chuyen Nha Chi Tin’ (The Story of Tin’s Family), and ‘Mien Nam Trong Trai Tim Bac’ (The South in the Heart of Uncle Ho).

The play ‘The Story of Tin’s Family’ recounts President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to the family of Nguyen Thi Tin, a poor widow with five children in Ha Noi, on New Year’s Eve of 1962. The story expresses the boundless love of Uncle Ho for his fellow countrymen and the affectionate feelings of the Vietnamese people towards him.

The short play ‘The South in the Heart of Uncle Ho’ is inspired by President Ho’s meeting with the heroine Tran Thi Ly and the soldiers and people of the South. The performance recalls the wartime when Vietnamese people fought against the US, their aspiration and determination for national reunification, and the deep affection for southern compatriots that always lingered in President Ho’s heart.

Meanwhile, the musical ‘Café and Bread’ reflects the fervent atmosphere in Viet Nam during the August Revolution of 1945, while praising the Vietnamese people who steadfastly maintained their faith in victory against foreign invaders.

The musical was the fruit of cooperation between artists from the Viet Nam national Drama Theatre and the Korean company METAFORCE.
