The events are scheduled to take place from August 27 to September 2 at Hung Vuong Square in Bac Lieu Ward, under the theme “Bringing together cultural identities at the southernmost point of the Fatherland”.
The events aim to stimulate tourism demand and promote the image of Ca Mau's land and people as the province enters a new period of integration and development.
Accordingly, a working delegation from the Provincial Party Committee, led by Ho Thanh Thuy, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and Head of the Steering Committee for organising the first Ca Mau Heritage Culture Day and Hot Air Balloon Festival, conducted a site inspection and working session on preparations for the event. He was accompanied by Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
The delegation inspected the area where the Heritage Culture Day opening ceremony will be held at Hung Vuong Square, before working with the People's Committee of Bac Lieu Ward to hear a report on the situation, construction progress, and coordination efforts to ensure conditions for the event.
A representative of the Ca Mau Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said the opening ceremony is scheduled for 8 p.m. on August 28, with around 500 delegates expected to attend. Regarding the flag salute ceremony featuring the Great National Flag, covering more than 2,000 square metres, at the Ha Noi Flagpole in Dat Mui Commune, a plan for allocating personnel has been completed.
At the inspection and working session, Ho Thanh Thuy, Deputy Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, emphasised that this is the first large-scale cultural and tourism event to be held in the province and is important for promoting the local image. He instructed agencies and units to continue closely reviewing every stage and ensure adequate logistics, technical facilities, security and public order, healthcare, and electricity supply.
Ho Thanh Thuy requested that all necessary conditions be completed by August 26, two days before the opening ceremony, so that the Heritage Culture Day and Festival can take place successfully, safely, and thoroughly. Through these activities, the province hopes to create more opportunities to promote tourism, attract investment, and boost local socio-economic development.
Regarding the 2026 “Ca Mau from the Sky” photo and video contest, he said this would also provide a way to preserve and spread beautiful images, highlighting the significance of the distinctive Heritage Culture Day being held for the first time in the southernmost region of the Fatherland.
A highlight of the event will be the first large-scale hot air balloon display held in the province, featuring activities such as free-flight of Level 7–8 hot air balloons, tethered flights of Level 7 hot air balloons, tethered flights of Level 1 hot air balloons, tours inside hot air balloons, and a hot air balloon lantern night.
According to Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee, the events aim to bring together and spread the essence of representative intangible cultural heritage from different regions, fostering cultural exchange while honouring and promoting cultural identities.
They are also expected to provide “a boost” for tourism development, particularly socio-economic growth in Ca Mau province through 2030, with a vision to 2035.
