Numerous Portuguese and international friends arrived early to participate in the opening ceremony of the Viet Nam display booth in the International Area at Avante Festival 2026.

Taking place from September 4–6 on the outskirts of Lisbon, the 50th press festival of the Portuguese Communist Party was a profound opportunity to the precious values of Ho Chi Minh’s legacy, a noble symbol of the spirit of independence, freedom, and international solidarity, on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of his departure to seek a path for national salvation and the country’s development goals set out by the 14th National Party Congress.

At the space honouring President Ho Chi Minh, organised by Nhan Dan Newspaper in coordination with the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace and the Vietnamese Embassy in the Portuguese Republic, books, historical documents, and valuable archival images of the beloved leader of the Vietnamese nation transported international audiences back to the resilient struggle for national liberation.

Moving images of President Ho Chi Minh and a vivid picture of a Viet Nam confidently entering the era of the nation’s rise captivated and profoundly moved international friends at the 50th Avante Festival.

At the opening ceremony of the thematic display “President Ho Chi Minh — A noble symbol of international solidarity,” General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party Paulo Raimundo emphasised that President Ho Chi Minh left an extraordinary patriotic and revolutionary legacy for the Vietnamese people, as well as for all revolutionaries and progressive forces around the world.

Many Portuguese and international friends lingered, attentively looking at each photo, reading each page of documents, and expressing deep respect for the thought, morality, and great career of President Ho Chi Minh.

Many young people recognise that President Ho Chi Minh is not only a steadfast symbol of the Vietnamese revolution, but also an endless source of inspiration for the spirit of independence, freedom, and solidarity among nations around the world.

This was an opportunity for many families in Portugal to explain to their children the sentiments and admiration they hold for the great leader of the Vietnamese people.

Visiting the Viet Nam display booth with a group of friends, Antonio Matiasster remarked that the country’s development goals and long-term vision for the future demonstrate that Viet Nam is preparing crucial foundations for a strong transformation.

Attending the discussion “The struggle of people and international workers in a changing world,” Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Portugal Nguyen Manh Thang stated that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam affirmed that the people are placed at the centre of the cause of renewal, development, and defence of the Fatherland.

Within the framework of activities at the display booth, the Viet Nam Cultural Centre in France presented a special art programme featuring melodies praising President Ho Chi Minh, the homeland, the country, and the people of Viet Nam.

Avante Festival has long become a colourful cultural gathering, where international solidarity shines brightly.

Amid the vibrant and dynamic atmosphere of the festival, the Viet Nam display booth emerged as a warm and proud highlight.

Cristina Cardoso, from the International Department of the Central Committee of the Portuguese Communist Party and in charge of the international area, noted that the harmonious combination of Ho Chi Minh’s ideological legacy and the development vision in the new era at the display booth created a powerful and inspiring resonance. International friends clearly recognised an invisible yet enduring connection: the ideological foundation and aspiration for independence and freedom built by President Ho Chi Minh serve as the compass that has guided Viet Nam to today’s achievements and helps the country advance resolutely into the future.
