The event was attended by General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Vice Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defence; General Khamliang Outhakaysone, Politburo member of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Minister of National Defence of Laos; General Prum Din, Secretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence; and Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Cuban Ambassador to Viet Nam, along with military attachés from Laos, Cambodia, and Cuba.
At the ceremony, the Lao State and Ministry of National Defence conferred the Order of Freedom, Order of Labour, and Order of Courage; the Kingdom of Cambodia presented the Order of Friendship; and the Cuban State awarded the Friendship Medal and the Granma Yacht emblem to various collectives and individuals within General Department II.
In his address, Minister of National Defence, General Phan Van Giang commended General Department II for its effective coordination with the military intelligence sectors of Laos, Cambodia, and Cuba, which has contributed to strengthening close ties between Viet Nam’s Defence Intelligence and those nations.
He urged the department to continue thoroughly grasping the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Defence Ministry’s guidelines and policies on international integration and defence diplomacy, while further enhancing the quality and effectiveness of military intelligence cooperation.
Speaking on behalf of all generations of cadres, staff, and soldiers of General Department II, Lieutenant General Tran Cong Chinh, Director General, expressed deep gratitude to the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and defence leadership, and extended thanks to the Lao State, Ministry of National Defence, and the military intelligence sectors of Laos, Cambodia, and Cuba for their supportive collaboration.
He pledged that in the time ahead, General Department II will continue striving to remain a key, reliable, and absolutely loyal force of the Party, State, and Army, outstandingly fulfilling all assigned tasks.
