The walking zone has also helped to promote local trade, service and tourism development.

The walking zone attracts about 10,000 visitors every Saturday night and this number often increases to 25,000 – 30,000 on the days of special cultural and art events.

Vice Chairman of the Son Tay Town People’s Committee Le Dai Thang said that the pedestrian zone has made remarkable changes in landscape and environment. The historical Son Tay ancient citadel, cultural works, and local infrastructure have been embellished while tourism is bustling more thanks to the pedestrian zone, Thang noted.

The launch of the pedestrian zone with diverse nightlife activities has also seen a 20-30% increase in the number of visitors spending their weekend at tourist destinations around the town such as Glory Resort, Thao Vien Resort, Mit Village, and others.
