The Southeast Tourism Association (STA) convened a conference in Dong Nai Province on December 25 to evaluate the implementation of an agreement on regional tourism linkages and to chart the path forward for sustainable tourism development.

The Southeastern region welcomed more than 73 million tourists in 2024, including over 67 million domestic tourists and nearly 7 million international tourists.

The number of domestic visitors increased by 12% and the number of international visitors increased by 17.4% compared to 2023. The total tourism revenue of the Southeastern region reached more than 215 trillion VND in 2024, an increase of 18.8% compared to 2023.

At the conference, representatives of the leaders of the Tourism Association of provinces and cities in the Southeast region signed an agreement to cooperate in developing green tourism.

According to the content of the signing, the provinces and cities in the Southeast region will: share and exchange experiences in promoting, implementing, and building green tourism models; cooperate to support members and develop products and services with low carbon emissions; and support and guide member units to participate in building tourism products that minimise environmental impacts.

Furthermore, they will develop tourism activities that do not use plastic waste; develop tours without the use of motor vehicles; and develop community tourism, eco-tourism, agricultural and rural tourism.
