The IAIO 2026 took place from February 23–27 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, organised by IRCAI and ACM Slovenia. The competition brought together 98 secondary school students from 24 countries to tackle both theoretical and practical challenges in artificial intelligence.

This remarkable success has enabled Hieu to receive a full scholarship valued at around 12 billion VND from the University of Chicago in the United States.

The Vietnamese delegation also achieved further honours, with Pham Nguyen Dang Huy winning another silver medal and Le Ky Nam securing a bronze.

Earning medals at this prestigious intellectual contest is regarded as a significant milestone for Vietnamese students in the field of artificial intelligence—one of the fastest-growing sectors in global science and technology.

The achievement continues to demonstrate the capability and promise of Vietnamese students in science and technology. It also reflects the effectiveness of combining independent study, a high-quality training environment, and the adoption of modern learning methods.
