The Viet Nam National VEX Robotics Championship 2026 - VEX IQ category is organised by Viet Nam Robotics Education & Competition Co., Ltd. (VREC), under the patronage of the National Innovation Centre (NIC) and co-organisers: Vovinam Digital, Dwight School Ha Noi, Duc Vinh Media, and technical sponsor - KC Education.

This is a national-scale competition in the field of interdisciplinary engineering and science, focusing on the research, design, manufactory, programming, and operation of robots, including computer systems for control, sensor and information processing, combining mechanics, electronics, and artificial intelligence (AI) to create automated or semi-automated systems capable of replacing or assisting humans. The competition is organised according to the international standards of the REC Foundation (RECF) for primary, secondary school, and high school students.

The 2026 competition focuses on developing STEM skills, creative thinking, and programming through the design and operation of robots (VEX IQ, VEX V5), aiming to select outstanding teams to represent Viet Nam at the World Championship in the US.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Tran Thi Thao, Director of Viet Nam Robotics Education & Competition (VREC), emphasised: “The final round of the Viet Nam National Robotics Championship VEX Robotics 2026 not only recognises the efforts of the competing teams throughout a long season, but also clearly demonstrates the strong development of the Robotics movement and STEM education in Viet Nam. Through the competition, students are trained in creative thinking, problem-solving skills, teamwork spirit, and are gradually approaching international Robotics competition standards.”

The final round of the competition was the most important stage of the VEX Robotics 2026 season. The VEX IQ category brought together 82 outstanding teams (51 teams from secondary school and 31 teams from primary school), while the VEX V5 category brought together 33 outstanding teams (10 teams from secondary schools and 23 teams from high school) from many provinces and cities across the country, selected after regional qualifying rounds. The teams created a vibrant, serious, and inspiring competitive atmosphere, clearly demonstrating the learning spirit, creativity, and courage of a generation of students passionate about Robotics and STEM.

The theme of the VEX IQ 2026 season – Mix & Match – presented strategic and collaborative challenges. The competition was played through three main formats: Teamwork Challenge (working in teams for 60 seconds), Driving Skills Challenge (controlling robots), and Automated Programming Skills Challenge (self-operating robots).

Meanwhile, the theme of the VEX V5 Robotics Competition within the framework of the Viet Nam National VEX Robotics Championship 2026 was Push Back – a challenge of speed, strength, and strategy. The game required teams to design robots that are both defensively strong and offensively agile to control the competition area and score points.

The final round of the Viet Nam National Robotics Championship VEX Robotics 2026 not only recognises the efforts of the competing teams throughout a long season, but also clearly demonstrates the strong development of the Robotics movement and STEM education in Viet Nam. Through the competition, students are trained in creative thinking, problem-solving skills, teamwork spirit, and are gradually approaching international Robotics competition standards.

At the end of the final round, the teams with the highest achievements were honoured and awarded the right to represent Viet Nam at the VEX Robotics World Championship 2026. This is not only a source of pride for the competing teams, schools, and parents, but also a significant milestone for Vietnamese robotics on the global STEM map.

Having overcome more than 200 teams nationwide in many rounds of competition, three teams from primary schools, seven teams from secondary schools, and four teams from high schools were honoured and will represent Viet Nam at the VEX Robotics World Championship 2026, which will take place from April 21 to 30, 2026 in the US.

According to international competition categories, VEX IQ is a competition category for primary and secondary, school students while VEX V5 is a competition category for high school students under 19 years old.

In 2025, participating in the VEX Robotics World Championship for the third time, many Vietnamese teams won awards. Among them, Cao Bang Specialised High School won two major awards: the Judges Award and the STEM Advocacy Challenge. The VEX IQ 25812M team from the Green Ams Robotics Team, Ha Noi - Amsterdam Specialised High School, also won two prestigious awards: the Think Award and Division 3rd Place, and made its mark by reaching the top 4 out of 419 competing teams in the Operation Skill & Autonomous Programming category.

The VEX Robotics World Championship is the world's largest robotics competition, annually attracting over 2,000 outstanding teams from approximately 100 countries worldwide.
