At Bentiu General Hospital, Vietnamese medical personnel organised outreach activities, communications and guidance on health care knowledge for patients and their families, focusing on practical issues such as personal hygiene, proper handwashing and mosquito-bite prevention to reduce the risk of infectious diseases, particularly malaria. On this occasion, Level-2 Field Hospital No. 7 donated more than one tonne of medical equipment, supplies and office materials to Bentiu Hospital to help improve conditions for medical examination and treatment. The delegation also presented several electrical devices and mosquito traps, while the hospital’s Youth Union members directly assisted in installing mosquito traps and repairing minor damage in patient wards, contributing to an improved treatment environment.

In addition, the delegation donated several boxes of nutritional solutions to the intensive care unit. During the visit, Major, Doctor, Dr Tran Duc Tai – Director of Level-2 Field Hospital No. 7 – also presented a set of instruments and materials for bone fixation techniques, while directly exchanging expertise, sharing experience and transferring several internal fixation techniques to medical staff from Bentiu General Hospital and Doctors Without Borders.

The provision of supplies, equipment and professional exchanges by Level-2 Field Hospital No. 7 not only helps improve trauma treatment capacity at medical facilities in Bentiu but also creates more opportunities for local patients to access advanced surgical techniques, especially as the demand for trauma treatment in the area remains high.

Speaking at the programme, Doctor Banen Non, Director of Bentiu General Hospital, expressed appreciation for the practical support provided by Viet Nam’s Level-2 Field Hospital. He noted that the support package included medical equipment, clothing for patients and infection-control materials, contributing to improved care and treatment conditions at the hospital.

The director of Bentiu General Hospital also expressed hope that the hospital would continue to receive support from the Vietnamese field hospital in the future, particularly in areas such as increasing supplies and equipment for operating theatres, providing testing chemicals for laboratories and strengthening the capacity of the blood bank.

This civil–military cooperation activity not only provided practical support for local health facilities but also helped promote the image of Viet Nam’s peacekeeping force as professional, responsible and humanitarian, further affirming the country’s active role in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

In the coming period, Level-2 Field Hospital No. 7 will continue to study and assess practical needs and develop plans to implement community medical support activities in the locality. In addition to Bentiu Hospital, the unit is expected to expand cooperation and professional support with several other medical facilities in the area, including Rukona Hospital.
