The logo was unveiled at a ceremony to present awards for the competition to design a brand identity for the new province.

According to Tran Hong Tien, Director of the Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, following the merger of Dak Lak and Phu Yen, the creation of a common identity logo for the province is particularly significant.

The logo reflects the historical and cultural identity, potential and development aspirations of a land where the majestic cultural space of the Central Highlands meets the tradition-rich South Central Coast.

The contest was launched nationwide and held over the course of one month, during which the organisers received 402 entries from 183 authors.

The first prize went to Hoang Thi Thu Thao from Da Nang, who received a cash prize of 150 million VND.

Thao said the inspiration for her design was the convergence between the vast highlands and the coastal region
