According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Long, head of Team K76, Loc Ninh military airfield was once a strategic military base constructed by the US and the US-backed Saigon administration from 1965.

In 1967, a series of fierce battles took place in this area, claiming the lives of officers and soldiers of the 7th Division.

Long reported that the unit has found six sets of martyrs’ remains in the Loc Ninh airfield area and five other sets within a residential area in Loc Tam Hamlet, Loc Tan Ward, Dong Nai City.

Team K76 is currently expanding the search area across wards and communes in the border zone of Dong Nai City. The unit has called on war veterans, historical witnesses and local residents with relevant information to contact Team K76 or Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Long to assist ongoing search and recovery work.
