At the programme, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ho Chi Minh City Fund for the Poor awarded 1,500 Nguyen Huu Tho scholarships and 750 health insurance cards, with a total value of 8.5 billion VND. The funding was provided through contributions from Ho Chi Minh City Lottery Company Limited via the city’s Fund for the Poor.

Speaking at the event, Pham Minh Tuan, Vice President of Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in response to this year’s peak month for the poor, the Fatherland Front system and socio-political organisations at all levels would continue to mobilise and coordinate social resources to provide practical support for local residents.

The total resources expected to be mobilised by the city’s Fatherland Front system and socio-political organisations during the peak month amount to more than 92 billion VND. These resources will fund the construction of 61 new Great Unity houses, repairs to 283 existing Great Unity houses, 13,700 scholarships, 450 livelihood support packages, 3,550 health insurance cards, and other forms of assistance.

According to Pham Minh Tuan, these social welfare activities aim to improve living standards and enable residents to gain better access to essential services, ensuring that no one is left behind as the city and the country develop.

Pham Minh Tuan expressed his hope that agencies, organisations, businesses, and members of the public would continue to provide their support and work together to mobilise and make effective use of resources to assist poor and disadvantaged people. He stressed the importance of combining immediate assistance with livelihood creation, educational support, and measures to help people achieve stable lives. These efforts would further promote solidarity and mutual support, contributing to the development of a civilised, modern, and compassionate Ho Chi Minh City.

Continuing the social welfare initiatives, the 2026 artistic exchange programme "A Compassionate City – Connecting Hearts" was held at Hoa Binh Theatre on the same evening.
