In her opening remarks, Le Thi Thuy, President of the VWU, said the event was not only an occasion to honour the contributions and achievements of Vietnamese women but also an opportunity to unlock their potential and bring out their intellect, resilience and aspirations.

It would also help spread the spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity among women from all walks of life, said Thuy.

The Vietnamese Women’s Awards are presented annually to groups and individual women who have demonstrated outstanding talent and achievements in different fields.

The 2026 awards drew 54 nominations and recognised five groups and 12 individuals for their exceptional achievements in different areas.

The second Nguyen Thi Dinh Awards recognised 32 outstanding full-time VWU officials, selected from about 4,000 such officials at all levels.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc said women are key participants, valuable resources and important drivers of development.

He said supporting women means not only providing assistance and protection but, more importantly, creating opportunities for them to realise their potential and contribute to the country.

Tuc commended the VWU for its efforts in recent years and congratulated those honoured with the awards.

He said Viet Nam is entering a new era of development in which science, technology, innovation, digital transformation and green transition are fundamentally reshaping production and business, governance and social life.

He added that women must be involved from the start, participate on an equal footing and share in the benefits created by these new drivers of development.

Tuc called on relevant agencies to address women’s practical needs and create an enabling environment for their development.

He said he was confident that, with their resilience, intellect and aspirations, Vietnamese women would continue to help make the country ever more prosperous and beautiful.

At the ceremony, the organising committee launched a competition for women’s innovative startups to promote entrepreneurship and innovation among women and recognise outstanding projects and business models owned or managed by women.
