Colonel Nguyen Dinh Chuan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command and Deputy Head of the city’s Steering Committee 515, stressed that the search, recovery and identification of martyrs’ remains is a major policy of the Party and State, reflecting the Vietnamese tradition of gratitude and remembrance for those who sacrificed their lives for the country.

He called on all participating forces to demonstrate the highest sense of responsibility, strictly follow regulations and ensure safety throughout the operation. They were also urged to overcome difficulties posed by terrain, weather and living conditions, while conducting the search scientifically, carefully and accurately, ensuring that no area or valuable information is overlooked.

The forces involved are required to coordinate closely and regularly exchange information, while maintaining complete records, files and location maps. All remains, artefacts and related information must be collected, preserved and managed in accordance with regulations to support the verification and identification of the fallen.

Authorities and localities were also urged to strengthen public communications and encourage residents to provide information about fallen soldiers and their burial sites, while collecting, cross-checking and verifying relevant sources.

Initial information indicates that a communal burial site in Lac An 3 Hamlet contains the remains of five martyrs. Information has been obtained for two of them, while the identities of the other three remain unknown.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to review and search for martyrs’ remains across Ho Chi Minh City, demonstrating the authorities’ responsibility towards those who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
