Speaking at the event, Head of the Central Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh stated that the honoured farmers are like beautiful flowers that brighten the Vietnamese people’s tradition of industriousness.

He also praised the VFU for organising an emulation movement for farmers to reduce poverty and get rich, from which new production and business models have been born.

The Party official asked the union to actively build a strong class of farmers and promote their central role in agricultural development and building new rural areas.

At the conference, Anh presented the Labour Order, third class, to ten particularly outstanding farmers while Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh awarded the Prime Minister’s certificates of merits to excellent individuals from the 2017-2022 period.

Compared to the 2012-2017 period, the number of farming households with an annual income of 500 million VND (21,000 USD) has tripled while the number for those with an annual income of 1 billion VND (42,000 USD) has doubled.
