Despite the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the project’s progress has been still guaranteed, so over 33% of the total volume of construction work has been completed.
The project, which has a total investment of over VND 3.3 trillion (over US$145 million) sourced from government bonds, aims to control water resources and create stable and sustainable conditions for production models, benefitting up to 384,120 hectares of land in the provinces of Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Ca Mau and Bac Lieu.
The project, along with the sea dyke line, will create a complex in response to climate change, sea level rise, natural disasters and flooding.
The project will also contribute to the supply of fresh water to the saline and freshwater production areas in the districts of An Minh and An Bien, in Kien Giang Province, during the rainy season in less rainy years; as well as the development of road traffic infrastructure, contributing to boosting socio-economic development in the region.
Recently, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the mobilisation of workers has been limited. However, the units have still maintained the construction to ensure the project’s schedule is met. Over 30% of total construction on Cai Lon’s sewers has been completed so far.
The Cai Lon sewer project is expected to be finished in late 2021.
