He urged a quick response to ensure children can attend a new school year safely, evacuate people from disaster-prone areas and provide necessities for those in flooded areas.
The request was conveyed in the Prime Minister’s letter to the people, soldiers and relief forces in the provinces from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien-Hue.
In early September, continuous heavy rains caused widespread flooding, seriously affecting the lives and economic activities of people in Vietnam’s central region, especially in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces.
In the letter, the government leader said he shares the difficulties facing those hit by disasters while praising the efforts of relief forces to ensure the safety of local residents and children ahead of new school year.
Noting that natural disasters will remain unpredictable in the coming months, the PM asked for continued efforts to prepare for disasters and quickly rebuild lives, restore production and infrastructure in their aftermath.
