Chon Thanh Town established in Binh Phuoc Province

The National Assembly Standing Committee has passed a resolution on the establishment of Chon Thanh Town by upgrading the eponymous district in the southern province of Binh Phuoc.

The new town is comprised of five wards Hung Long, Thanh Tam, Minh Hung, Minh Long, Minh Thanh and four communes Minh Thang, Nha Bich, Minh Lap and Quang Minh.

Chon Thanh Town covers 390.34 square kilometres and has a population of 121,083.

On the same day, the National Assembly Standing Committee also approved a resolution upgrading Binh Phu Commune in Cai Lay District, Tien Giang Province, into a commune-level town.

The town has a population of 18,502 and covers an area of 19.07 square kilometres.
