Delegates’ comments on congress documents examined

The 12th National Party Congress spent the sixth working day on plenary sessions at the My Dinh National Convention Centre in Hanoi on January 26.

Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and President of the congress’ Presidium chaired the session on behalf of the Presidium.

The vote inspection board instructed delegates on how to record and cast their ballots. The delegates received, recorded and cast their ballots to elect members to the 12th PCC. The vote inspection board counted the ballots.

Comrade Nguyen Sinh Hung, Politburo member, Chairman of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam chaired the afternoon session on behalf of the Presidium.

The vote inspection board announced the results as well as a list of elected members to the 12th PCC. The Congress voted to approve a report on the outcomes of the voting for the 12th PCC. Accordingly, the 12th PCC includes 180 official and 20 alternate members.

Also in the afternoon, the delegates heard a report put together by comrade Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Communication and Education on acquiring the feedback of delegates on the congress’s draft documents.

Delegates voted on several issues and contents of the documents.

The documents’ preparation showed an innovative spirit, ensured scientific basis in the context of the current situation, promoted democracy and insight in different concepts to mobilise the intellect of all officials, Party members and people in contributing ideas to building the draft documents for the direction of national development. Together with ideas collected within the Party, the draft documents were published on the mass media to gather ideas of people from all walks of life and the overseas Vietnamese community. There were 26 million ideas contributed to the draft documents, which were constructive and supportive. Based on collected ideas, a board for preparing the draft documents supplemented and completed the draft documents to submit to the congress.

The Congress will have a day off on January 27.

The 12th PCC is scheduled to convene its first conference to elect the Politburo, the Party General Secretary, the Secretariat, the PCC’s Commission for Inspection and the head of the Commission.
